5-Minute-Fun with your child: Don’t Say it, Sing it!

5-Minute-Fun #1:   DON’T SAY IT, SING IT!

When talking to your child, try singing your words instead, to a familiar tune. For instance, “Frere Jacques” might be sung when you are serving lunch:

“Here’s your sandwich, here’s your sandwich. Eat it now! Eat it now! It is very yummy, delicious in your tummy. Yum yum yum, yum yum yum.”

I’ve done this for many years, with all three of my kids. I remember one of my son’s preschool friends looking at me once and asking, “Do you always sing?”

No . . . not always. Moms don’t always feel like singing! But it can make life more fun for both kids and moms. My youngest, Elisa, began inventing her own songs when she was tiny, complete with rhyming words!  How fun is that?

Let me know what creative jingles you and your kids come up with!
